Emotions are the missing piece of natural health.

Addressing physical, energetic and emotional layers is the most effective way to support the body. Most of my clients present with a stressed nervous system that has trickle down effects. We are adapted to a high-stress life and are used to living in 'fight or flight.' This is detrimental to our health. Heightened nervous system activity primarily impacts your body's stress response through your adrenals glands. Do you ever feel wired but tired? Once the adrenals are weakened, they can't keep you running from that bear. Energy slumps in the afternoon, sleep cycles are interrupted, and hormones and mood fluctuate.

Also, a heightened nervous system impacts your GI tract. The primary symptom I see is low HCL in the stomach which reduces your body's capacity to properly digest food and absorb nutrients, while contributing to reflux and constipation. If there is not enough HCL moving through into the small intestine, SIBO - small intestine bacterial overgrowth, can occur leading to excessive bloating, discomfort and gas. Also insufficient acid creates an environment where bacteria can become imbalanced and parasites thrive.

By detecting trapped emotions, we can identify where that emotional energy is stored in your body. For example, anger and frustration are stored in the liver. Using a simple homeopathic meridian opener can help prepare the body physically and allow the client to process emotions.

Using deep breathing, calming techniques and processing emotions through prayer or meditation, the body can reduce vagus nerve activity, calming the gut and body stopping symptoms upstream.

Here is a simple exercise to help calm the body:

  • Purpose: Tell the nervous system “nothing is wrong right now.”

    • Place one hand on chest, one on belly

    • Inhale through nose 4 seconds and exhale through mouth 6–8 seconds. Repeat 7 times.

  • Purpose: Pull the system out of past/future into now.

    • Slowly turn head and eyes

    • Name (out loud or silently):

    • 2 things you can see

    • 2 things you can feel (chair, floor, breath)

    • 1 neutral sound

  • Purpose: Shift from sympathetic to parasympathetic.

    • Humming (“mmm” or “vooo”)

    • Listen for signs the nervous system is calming such as a yawn.

  • Purpose: Let the body release what it’s been holding.

  • Pick what feels right:

    • Gentle shaking of hands, shoulders, legs

    • Then just sit in this space for a few minutes
